SDI (Scuba Diving International) is a modern diving agency, founded in 1999 by professionals from the technical diving (TDI) field. Scuba Discovery
This program is designed to give prospective students an introduction to scuba diving in a controlled environment under the direct supervision of an active SDI Professional. Minimum age: 10 years

Supervised Diver
This course is designed to give students the necessary skills to conduct open water dives in conditions similar to their training under the direct supervision of a qualified and active dive professional. Participate in dives under the direct supervision of a qualified and active dive professional to depths of 12 metres / 40 feet that do not require decompression, in conditions similar to their training. Appropriate surface support must be available.

Open Water Diver
This certification course is designed to give students the necessary skills to conduct open water dives in conditions similar to their training without the direct supervision of an instructor. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may: 1. Conduct open water dives in conditions similar to their training to a maximum depth of 18 metres/ 60 feet. 2. Conduct dives with other certified divers at the same or higher level of certification. 3. Conduct dives that do not require decompression.

Advanced Adventure Diver
The purpose of this course is to give the diver an overview of 5 different specialties, 2 core, and 3 additional SDI Specialties. The two core specialties are SDI Deep and Navigation. One dive, from each of the specialties, may apply toward a complete specialty certification. It is recommended for the student to work on advanced buoyancy during this program, it may even count as one of the five specialties required to receive the Advanced Adventure Diver rating.

Advanced Diver
The SDI Advanced Diver Development Program was created to make true advanced divers. Under the old way of training a student could take an advanced course immediately following an open water course, and only have a total of 9 dives, all under the direct training of an instructor. The SDI Advanced Diver Development program requires a new open water student to complete 4 SDI, TDI or ERDI Specialties or equivalent, combined with 25 logged dives. SDI believes a diver will truly be advanced after this is accomplished

Master Scuba Diver
The SDI Master Scuba Diver Development Program was created to make true master divers. The SDI Master Scuba Diver Development program requires a new open water diver to complete 4 SDI, TDI or ERDI Specialties (or equivalent), the SDI Rescue Diver Course (or equivalent), and logged 50 dives. SDI believes a diver will be a true master scuba diver after this is accomplished.

Rescue Diver
The rescue certification course is designed to develop the knowledge and necessary skills for an individual to effectively perform diver rescues and assist and administer necessary first aid. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates: Are able to conduct rescues for divers in distress.

Divemaster
This program is designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for an individual to lead certified divers in an open water environment. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may:
-1. Assist an active SDI Instructor during approved diving courses provided the activities are similar to the graduate’s prior training.
-2. Supervise and conduct dives for certified divers and any specialized scuba diving activities that they have been trained in, provided the activities are similar to the graduate’s prior training.
-3. Plan and execute emergency procedures appropriate for the diving environment and activities.

Advanced Buoyancy Control
Introducing a diver to the benefits of controlling his buoyancy usually has a great positive effect, an effect that will enhance the diver’s sense of enjoyment and feeling of accomplishment. This specialty is designed to increase the open water diver’s understanding of the factors that influence his buoyancy, and to train the diver in using those means available to him as methods for controlling his buoyancy. The added benefits to the marine, and freshwater environments, cannot be overstated; as well as a diver that has better control of himself in conjunction with his environment.

Boat Diver
Scuba diving from boats is an everyday occurrence. Whether on a private vessel or one of the many charter dive boats available worldwide, divers are frequently not aware of the special procedures and etiquette used when boat diving. This course is designed to introduce divers to different types of boat diving and the skills needed to plan and conduct a boat dive with maximum safety.

Deep Diver
The purpose of this course is to provide the necessary training to plan and execute dives that are outside the range of depths that are experienced during an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course, specifically beyond 18 Metres/60 Feet and to a maximum depth of not greater than 40 Metres/130 Feet.

Night/Limited Visibility Diver
Many divers find that night diving is their favorite type of diving. As with all specialty diving applications, procedures are different than those associated with open water diving. The purpose of this course is to acquaint the open water diver with the procedures, techniques, and potential hazards associated with diving at night, or in limited visibility. By becoming familiar with the use of dive lights, and night diving techniques such as navigation, buddy system procedures, communications, buoyancy control, and interacting with nocturnal aquatic life, the diver will be able to enjoy night diving with maximum safety.

Underwater Navigation Diver
This course is designed to give students a greater understanding and experience on how to properly navigate underwater using both natural and compass navigation. Minimum age: 10 years

Wreck Diver
Wreck diving can be one of the most exciting aspects of sport diving, however every effort must be made to maximize safe diving techniques. This course will discuss the equipment and techniques commonly employed while wreck diving. This course may be taught as a non-penetration, 2 dives required, or as a limited-penetration course, requiring 3 dives. Limited penetration is defined as a swim through or within the ambient light of entry point.

Solo Diver
The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in solo diving activities.

Technical Diving International (TDI) is one of the largest certification agencies for technical diving worldwide, and also one of the first to offer combined gas and rebreather training. TDI specializes in advanced diving techniques, including rebreather diving and the use of gases such as trimix and heliox. Since its inception, one of TDI's main goals has been to position itself as an innovator in the field of technical diving, offering the latest programs and techniques while working to change the perception that the practice is too dangerous.

Nitrox Diver
This is the entry-level certification course for divers wishing to utilize enriched air nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22 through 40 percent oxygen content.

Advanced Nitrox Diver
This course examines the use of EAN-21 through 100 percent oxygen for optimal mixes to a depth of 40 Metres/130 Feet. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for utilizing EAN-21 through 100 percent oxygen for dives not requiring staged decompression. TDI Decompression Procedures or the Intro to Tech may be combined with this course at the discretion of the instructor.

Decompression Procedures Diver
This course examines the theory, methods, and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. This program is designed as a stand-alone course, or it may be taught in conjunction with TDI Advanced Nitrox, Advanced Wreck, or Full Cave Course. The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 Metres/150 Feet. The most common equipment requirements, equipment set-up and decompression techniques are presented. Students are permitted to utilize enriched air nitrox (EAN) mixes or oxygen for decompression provided the gas mix is within their current certification level.

Extended Range Diver
This course provides training and experience required to competently utilize air for dives up to 55 Metres/180 Feet that requires staged decompression, utilizing nitrox mixtures or oxygen during decompression. The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper techniques, equipment requirements, and hazards of deep air diving to a maximum of 55 Metres/180 Feet utilizing nitrox mixtures or oxygen for staged decompression.

Advanced Wreck Diver
This course provides training and experience to competently conduct advanced wreck dives. This program includes penetration skills and techniques. Depths shall not exceed the level in which the diver is trained and competent, but in no case shall the maximum depth in this program exceed 55 Metres/180 Feet. The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper techniques, equipment requirements and hazards of wreck diving.
